WILLIAM FLOYD ESTATE & CEMETERY (1700’s) MASTIC BEACH, NEW YORK

Crosses were added next to the William Floyd family cemetery to mark the burial place of slaves Charles, Caeser, Herry, Sam, Pompey and Lon.  Some outbuildings that were slave quarters stand at the federally managed estate, where eight generations of Floyds lived until 1975.  In winter and early spring, the family’s 613-acre grounds are open only on weekends.
