Bethel A.M.E. Ccemetery, Pennington, NJ (1816)

This cemetery dates back to the Civil War and many of the graves have never been marked. Some of the names on the crooked stones have washed away, if there were names there to begin with. In those days there werent many rules about burying people. Some of the dead were buried in wooden boxes, rather than the concrete or metal coffins used today. Some of the cemeterys residents include Civil War veterans, as well as a peanut vendor and lamplighter, both well known in Pennington in the 1920s.
