STOUTSBURG CEMETERY, MONTGOMERY, NEW JERSEY

The Stoutsburg Cemetery, a private cemetery on Province Line Road on the northeastern corner of the township, came into use during the mid-19th century as a burial place for the various Black families that resided on Sourland Mountain in Hopewell and southern Hunterdon County.  In later years, an association was formed and full title to the land was granted.  This cemetery, which includes approximately 150 marked graves and many other unmarked sites, remains in use today.
