Solomon Wesley United Methodist Church (1800’s) Davistown, New Jersey
The community was settled by Lindley and Zack Davis on land given them by Daniel Bates, a Methodist minister. The Solomon Wesley church is an unusually intact example of a mid-nineteenth century African American church, built to serve a rural community. The church is historically associated with the community of freed slaves known as the Village of Davistown.
