PORT REPUBLIC CEMETERY, PORT REPUBLIC, NEW JERSEY

The town of Port Republic is located just north of Atlantic City along the coastline of southern New Jersey.  From about 1849 until the beginning of the 20th century (between 1916-1924), a small community of African Americans lived here.  Only five headstones that were once part of an A.M.E. church cemetery remain as evidence of the community.
