Midway Green Cemetery & Union Prospect Cemetery, Aberdeen, New Jersey (1840)

Midway Green Cemetery is located on Reids Hill Road, also known as Block 85 Lot 28, and is directly across from Union Prospect Cemetery.  Wicker Memorial Baptist Church at 180 Greenwood Road, Morganville, New Jersey, maintains 240+ graves on the 3.75 acres. Several gravestones are broken, toppled, buried or illegible.  Some of the older gravestones are hand carved. Other graves have no gravestones, but are marked by small aluminum courtesy markers supplied by local funeral homes. The oldest gravestone is dated 1897 and the most recent burial, as of September 18, 1998, was in August 1998. Aberdeen Township Historian Edward Fitzgerald is of the opinion that all burials in this cemetery are African Americans.
