JERICHO CEMETERY, DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP GLOUCESTER COUNTRY, NEW JERSEY

Old Jericho Cemetery is located in Deptford Township in Gloucester County, New Jersey, on Church Street near the Old Presbyterian Church in the Jericho section of the township.  The land on which the cemetery lies is owned and operated by the Odd Fellows.  The more recent graves are toward the entrance of the cemetery, while older graves are located primarily near the wooded area bordering Woodbury Heights.

From the evidence that is available and the proximity of the land, the cemetery may have once been part of the estate of Frank Lee Merchant, a prominent landowner and farmer in the community.  From a very early grave, it can be established that the cemetery dates back to 1868 or earlier, although many of the graves are unmarked.

Among those buried here are:

Charles L. Cutler (May 10, 1863- Feb. 27, 1934)

Sandy Daniels (May. 11, 1840-May 11, 1937)

John Willliams (Died Jan. 25, 1913, age 68, Civil War veteran, CO B, 25th Regiment, PA.)

Sallie Gurard (Circa 1844 — Aug. 1, 1905, age 61)
