Donald Sutherland has died. The Academy Award-winning actor had nearly 200 credits to his name, including ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘The Dirty Dozen,’ ‘M*A*S*H,’ ‘Animal House,’ ‘Backdraft,’ ‘The Italian Job’ and more. His son, Kiefer Sutherland, confirmed the news on Instagram, calling his father ‘one of the most important actors in the history of film.’

Donald Sutherland, the prolific actor who starred in such films as “M*A*S*H,” “Ordinary People” and “The Hunger Games,” has died at the age of 88, son Kiefer Sutherland revealed Thursday.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer Sutherland wrote on X. “I think one of the most important actors in the history of film.
