Christopher Fischer received his B.A. from Notre Dame and his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the faculty at Indiana State after a brief stint at Loyola University in Maryland. He teaches and researches on twentieth century European history, with a focus on Germany and France. His first book, Alsace to the Alsatians? explores the multiple, evolving forms of regional identity in Alsace between 1871-1939. His current project builds on aspects of the first book by examining the experiences of Alsatians during the First World War. Dr. Fischer teaches courses on modern Germany and France, the World Wars, and Nazi Germany.
