A landmark new documentary, “Choc’late Soldiers from the USA,” produced by Drexel University writing professor Gregory Cooke, tells the compelling, previously untold story of 140,000 African American men and women who were stationed in Great Britain during World War II, and how they crossed a racial divide to forge an unexpected bond with British civilians.
The film made its Philadelphia debut at Drexel University on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The event opened with a welcome by Professor Cooke and Professor André Carrington of the Department of English & Philosophy and did close with a question-and-answer session and reception from 8-9 p.m.
