Richard Walling serves as a preservation planner in the New Jersey and New York East Brunswick Historic Preservation Commission in East Brunswick Township, New Jersey. He also is a member of the Friends of Monmouth Battlefield. Among his many published works are: Men of Color at the Battle of Monmouth; The German Immigrant Experience in East Brunswick; Jewish Soldiers of the Revolution; Patriots Blood: The Story of the Indian (INDIA?) Company of 1778 & Its Destruction; and The African-American Experience in Western Monmouth County. He has served as editor or author of numerous newsletters, journals, articles and brochures for organizations such as the New Jersey League of Municipalities and the NJ Historical Commission. Among Waller’s awards are: 1992 , Oliver Cromwell Black History Society; 1993 Sons of the American Revolution, 1996 Teacher of the Year; 1999 Volunteer of the Year, NJ State Park Service. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in community planning from Rutgers University and a master’s degree from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.
