The New School hosts a daylong series of mini-courses on Jewish secularism, an exciting new topic at the vanguard of Jewish studies. Distinguished scholars offer introductions to their courses on this subject. The keynote speaker is David Biale, author of the newly published intellectual history Not in the Heavens: The Tradition of Jewish Secular Thought. Dr. Biale, chair of the Department of History and the Emmanuel Ringelblum Professor of Jewish History at the University of California at Davis, will discuss his book and a course he is teaching called Secular Jewish Thinkers.
