Urban anthropologist and lecturer Sherrill D. Wilson is creator and operator of Reclaim the Memories, and author of New York Citys African Slave Owners. She is a contributor to the 1995 Encyclopedia of New York History published by Yale University Press and the New York Historical Society. Dr. Wilson holds a doctorates degree and masters degree from the New School for Social Research in New York City. (1991). She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in Religious Studies. Her company, Reclaim the Memories, gives Black history tours of Old New York, including eight walking tours in Manhattan that highlight the achievements and contributions of Africans there in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
