Teaching Interests: Professor Perez is the author of five books on Japanese and Asian history including Japan Comes of Age: Mutsu Munemitsu and the Revision of the Unequal Treaties (1999), Mutsu Munemitsu and Identity Formation of the Individual and the State in Modern Japan (2001), and Daily Life in Premodern Japan (2002). He teaches courses on East Asian History and chairs the East Asian Studies Team. Research Interests: East Asia & Japan.
