The American Chestnut in Southern Appalachia: An Oral History

A short documentary on the oral history of the American chestnut tree before and after the chestnut blight pandemic spread throughout the eastern United States in the early 20th century. Tennessee and Kentucky residents share their early memories of the uses, appearance, and cultural impact of the once abundant tree at a time when decades of research are culminating in hopes of restoring the American chestnut to its native woodland habitat in the near future.
