Barack Obama will deliver his final address as president Tuesday evening in Chicago, just 10 days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. Obama will deliver the address from McCormick Place in the city’s downtown area, making it the first time a president has turned to his hometown for the final White House address.

The White House will stream the speech live on its website and on its official Facebook page. The address will also air live on broadcast/cable news channels such as Fox, NBC, ABC and CBS. The speech will air at 9 p.m. EST.

After eight years in the White House, Obama is expected to speak about his journey and the transition. He is expected to be joined on stage by his wife, Michelle, who gave her farewell speech as first lady last week.
In a statement last week, Obama said he hoped his final address would be “a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years, and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here.”

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest had reportedly said Friday that the president will “briefly” discuss the accomplishments of his own administration before turning to his thoughts on addressing “the challenges that lie ahead.”

“Most of those solutions, in the mind of the president, rest on the deeply held values that just about every American subscribes to,” Earnest said. “The president believes that obviously, that diversity of this country is a strength. And that for all our differences, there’s much more unites us than that separates us. And, our country is stronger when we remember that principle and we draw upon those common values.”
Obama’s trip to Chicago will also mark the last time he is expected to travel outside of Washington, D.C., as president and the final time he will be on board the Air Force One.
